Lawrence H. Brenner
Mr. Brenner graduated from Boston College Law School. For nearly fifty years he has been an accomplished trial and appellate lawyer. He handles cases all over the country and has obtained acquittals and favorable verdicts for his clients in high profile civil and criminal cases. In the late 80's for example, a Florida law firm sought out Mr. Brenner for his recognized trial abilities. Mr. Brenner obtained what was, at the time, one of the largest negligence verdicts in Miami-Dade County - $18.5 million. Mr. Brenner also successfully handled a patent case against one of the largest corporations in the world. He has also served as healthcare quality and malpractice loss prevention consultant to the nation's largest nonprofit multi hospital systems. Much of his practice has focused on medical negligence cases, though he has a broad range of experiences, knowledge, and skills that translate just as well into other types of civil litigation. He has also represented physicians in credentialing and privileging disputes, medical licensure disputes, and criminal health care fraud cases brought by the Department of Justice. He has also represented medical residents for wrongful termination from their residency programs.
In addition to his considerable experience as a successful trial attorney, Mr. Brenner is a former Clinical Associate Professor of Health Policy and Administration at UNC-Chapel Hill and a former Senior Research Fellow at Duke. Among his many academic appointments, he has served as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine and Lecturer at Columbia and Yale Medical Centers.
A widely published author and nationally acclaimed lecturer, Mr. Brenner has been an invited lecturer at major academic medical teaching centers, including the Mayo Clinic, Johns Hopkins, Stanford, and the University of Madrid. He also recently co-authored the book "Clinical Decision Making and Judicial Reasoning" - a work that explores and explains "Harmonizing Principles of Distributive Justice and Healthcare Quality."
